As cold temps approach here’s a checklist to help preventing damage to your home .
📝 Winter Homeowner Prep Checklist
🔧 Inside the Home
[ ] Set thermostat to at least 55°F, even when away.
[ ] Insulate exposed pipes with foam sleeves or heat tape.
[ ] Schedule furnace and replace filters.
[ ] Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; replace batteries.
[ ] Inspect fireplace/chimney for creosote buildup.
❄️ Outside the Home
[ ] Clean gutters to prevent ice dams.
[ ] Check roof for loose shingles or damage.
[ ] Trim weak tree branches near the house.
[ ] Store hoses and shut off exterior water valves.
[ ] Test snow blower and stock up on ice melt.
🧰 Emergency Preparedness
[ ] Assemble a winter emergency kit: flashlights, blankets, food, water.
[ ] Keep extra batteries and portable chargers.
