You've completed the first two phases of prioritizing your next dollar. Now it's time to work on your ultimate financial goals.

1. College Savings-Do you have a child and want to save for college? Look into your state's 529 Plan.

2. Save For Bigger Goals-Maybe you want to take a vacation, need a new car, or would like to buy a vacation home. Consider opening a high interest savings account or an investment account if the goal is further out.

3. Pay Off Low Interest Debt-Your mortgage is often low interest debt but can become a burden as you get older and no longer work. Consider making extra payments so you can pay off those loans faster.

4. Accumulate Wealth-Build up your net worth and diversify your savings. Different accounts serve different purposes. Some come with stability and lower return on your money while others are more volatile but have the potential for higher returns. Get with a financial advisor and talk through your financial plans. They can help you determine the best savings vehicle for you.

You might be surprised at how satisfying it is to work on becoming debt free. Gaining control of your finances gives you and your family the opportunity to realize many more of your dreams for the future.
