If you are about to turn 65 you may be wondering what EXACTLY you are supposed to do regarding Medicare. There is a lot of conflicting information that comes your way - but we can make it SIMPLE for you.

We are offering four different "Medicare & You" seminars to help you cut through the noise. These 1 hour, no-obligation, and FREE seminars wil give you the information you need in order to feel confident in your choices. Below are the dates, times, and locations.

Lincoln County:
* Friday, October 24th at the Newport Recreation Center @ 10 AM for a larger group meeting.
* At the Walmart kiosk Sunday - Thursday.

Linn County:
* Monday, October 27th at the Sweet Home Senior Center (10 AM) and the Lebanon Senior Center (2:30 pm).
* Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday @ the Lebanon Walmart.
Every Wednesday and Saturday at the Albany Walmart.

Tillamook County:
* Monday - Friday at our Tillamook office on 2nd and Pacific Coast Hwy (across from the Pioneer Museum).

For 2026 you now have a Medicare Advantage Plan option in Devoted Healthcare. The Medicare Plans Resource Center has opened an office in downtown Tillamook in the Henson Plaza (2nd and Main). When your Medicare Advantage Carrier leaves your County (like what is happening in some Counties in Oregon) you have the option of choosing another Advantage Plan in your area OR you can get a "guarantee issue" into a Medigap G plan. Which should you choose? The answer really depends on your health, finances, and doctors. Below are the pro's and con's of each:

Medigap G Plan Pros:

* No doctor/hospital networks. Simply put, if they take Medicare they will take your Medigap plan no matter what company you are with.

* No copayments. With a G plan you simply pay the Part B deductible ($256 for this year) and the plan pays everything else.

* You can have multiple Primary Care Physicians. (This is only important for "snowbirds."

Medigap G Plan Cons:

* Expensive. You will likely pay between $150-250 per month and more if you are older.

* No RX plan - you will have to also purchase an RX plan.

* No dental/vision/hearing/etc.

Now...Medicare Advantage Pros

* Very inexpensive...as little as $0 premium

* Most include drug plans. Most also include some levels of dental/vision/hearing. Some might include alternative care.

Medicare Advantage Cons:

* Doctor networks

* You do have co-payments for many services

* Prior authorization is required for most procedures.

If you are on a Samaritan Advantage Plan in Lincoln County you HAVE to change your healthcare plan for next year or you will be without coverage other than basic Medicare. To assist your needs - we are holding meetings at the Recreation Center in Newport (across from the Senior Center) on the following dates:

For the first time since 2024, Medicare Advantage plans are returning to Tillamook County!

To assist seniors in Tillamook county we are doing two things:

1. Opening a new Medicare Plans Resource Center office in downtown Tillamook. The office opens on October 1st and it is located in the Henson Plaza across from the Pioneer museum. No appointment is necessary.

2. We are hosting Medicare meetings at the Tillamook library on the following dates (all at 10:30 am.)
* October 2, 6, 13, 20
* November 6 & 20.

RSVP is not required but recommended.

For more information you can look at a new basic website we created (www.oregonmedicareoptions.com) that will update the plan information effective October 1st.
