There’s a quote that keeps showing up in my life and it is ‘when your bucket list makes it to your camera roll, pay attention’.

It’s really made me think about how quickly we move to the next goal instead of sitting in our gratitude and/or marveling at how we got there.

Every year at this time, I see out of state lenders miss the property tax hold back that happens in September and October in the state of Oregon. This makes a significant impact on your cash to close during these months.

This post isn’t about mortgages.

I’ve spent a large part of my life trying to feel like I belong, worried about what other people thought about me or if I was ‘too much’ and trying to adjust so I was ‘just right’. Those feelings and thoughts have ruled my life in more ways than I’ve realized.

This last year I found myself so far outside my comfort zone that those lines have blurred, and I don’t even know where I started. Truth be told, I don’t know I would want to find my way back to who I was, even if I could.

In years past, I’ve always wanted to get my face painted at an annual event I attend and never do. This year, whether it’s growth or being in my late 40’s, I jumped in the chair and immediately went to a soccer game. Did I get some looks? Yes. Did I care? No. No I didn’t. And the remaining glitter on my face the next day made me equally as happy as the face paint did the night before.

As we start this week, I hope you paint your face. Literally or figuratively.

Here’s to wandering outside our comfort zones and not finding our way back. 💗
