We’re kicking off a round of employee spotlights starting off with our boss, Henry Sloan!

Originally from Tribune, KS, Henry attended Ottawa University on a basketball scholarship and graduated in 2010. He later completed a graduate certificate through the University of Kansas.
His banking career with Farmers State Bank began in 2016, starting with small loans before moving into Ag lending and eventually commercial lending. Today, he serves as Regional President for the Eastern Kansas market and continues to work with commercial and Ag customers while overseeing our Eudora branch.
He and his wife, Kaitlin, have been married since 2015 and have three children: Parker (7), Kaizer (3), and Greer (1). After spending more than nine years in Oakley, KS, their family is happy to be back on this side of the state and reconnecting with the communities they call home.
When asked what he enjoys most about banking, Henry shared that every customer brings a different set of goals and challenges. He enjoys helping customers “solve that puzzle” and find the right path forward. For him, community banking is about more than serving customers—it's about investing in the communities we call home. And he's grateful to do that alongside a team committed to creating a better banking experience for every customer.

RETIREMENT SPOTLIGHT
After 37 years in banking, Michelle Reed is looking forward to a new chapter filled with family, grandbabies, the outdoors, and maybe a little traveling.
Michelle’s banking career has been spent working in many different areas, including Operations, Loans, and Customer Service. While she has enjoyed the variety that banking has offered, one of her favorite parts of the job has been getting to know customers and being able to help them when they are having problems.
Michelle was born in Emporia, Kansas and raised in Gardner. She and her husband Chris have been married for 35 years. Their daughter, Madison, and husband Zach, are the proud parents of 5-month-old Eleanor. Their son, Ryan, and wife Kailynn, recently welcomed their daughter, Noelle, who is just 6 weeks old. Outside of work, Michelle enjoys spending time outdoors—although she admits that the Kansas heat can make that a little challenging right now! Her family has always been active in 4-H, horse shows, and rodeos, giving her many wonderful memories over the years. She also loves looking at beautiful flowers, though she jokingly admits that she enjoys that part much more than the actual gardening!
After nearly four decades of serving customers and building relationships, Michelle is ready to enjoy a well-earned retirement—and plenty of precious time with her growing family.
