Tip 2: Please be aware that if you don’t want to add your youthful driver (ages 16-23) because you want to save money and/or they are involved in an accident, the majority of insurances will not cover the losses and deny the claim. The parent will be responsible for the loss and will be sued for any damages. Farmers offers Good Student and Y.E.S (You’re Essential to Safety) discounts for youthful drivers that can you save an average of $300 per year. Tip #1: When filing a claim, and someone hits you and denies it, it is easier to pay for your deductible and let the insurance company figure out the rest. Your car will be fixed faster and if the case is won, your deductible will be refunded. One of my clients experienced a similar situation and I just found out that they will be getting a 100% refund and a $250 check due to loss of use coverage.
