Yesterday was an unforgettable day in Erie! 🚂 Union Pacific’s legendary Big Boy No. 4014—the world’s largest operating steam locomotive—made its way through Erie County, giving residents and visitors a rare opportunity to witness a piece of living American history.
We brought our drone to North East to capture the incredible sight of the locomotive, as well as the crowds that gathered to experience this special moment. While drones can’t capture audio, the excitement and energy of the day were impossible to miss! This is just one of many exciting events helping our community celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and showcase all that Erie has to offer.

As Great Lakes Insurance and ZFLP Properties team up to continue exploring projects and opportunities that contribute to a more vibrant and engaging community, we are considering transforming properties that are currently in the design and approval stages of future development into temporary community gathering spaces, or "Pop-Ups,” this one being at the site located across from Griswold Park.

This approach allows these sites to serve a meaningful purpose and provide value to the community while awaiting project approvals.

Before moving forward, we want to hear directly from local residents, business owners, and visitors to ensure these spaces reflect the interests, needs, and ideas of the people who will use them.

North East High School received a special delivery today. We delivered their $500 check for Student Council and engraved their school name on the trophy in recognition of their achievement at the 18th Annual Erie County Teen Driving Team Competition, sponsored by Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association. 🏆🎉

Congratulations to the students for demonstrating an outstanding commitment to safe driving. You should all be very proud of this achievement!
