The IRS is required to ** TEMPORARILY HOLD REFUNDS ** that include these credits for additional review.

If you claimed:
• Earned Income Credit (EIC)
• Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC)
Your refund is placed on a mandatory IRS hold under the PATH Act — every single year.

⚠️ Important note:
Claiming dependents alone does NOT trigger this hold.
The hold applies only if EIC and/or ACTC is claimed.

📅 For the 2025 tax year (2026 payouts):
• PATH Act hold lifts: February 15, 2026
• IRS begins releasing refunds: Mid-February
• First direct deposits typically hit: Late February (around Feb 24–28)
