Yes, your credit matters. But you do not need a flawless score to get approved.

Different loan programs have different credit guidelines. Some buyers may qualify with credit that is still a work in progress.

What matters most is the full picture:

Your income
Your debts
Your savings
Your credit history
The type of loan you use

So if your credit is the reason you’ve been waiting, don’t guess. Ask first.

If you’re buying a house… don’t just look at how it looks
Look at how it lives

🚿 Run the shower — then check the ceiling below
Leaks don’t always show right away… this catches them fast

The same quiet street can feel VERY different after dark

You actually don’t need 20% down to buy a home.

That’s one of the biggest mortgage myths out there.

A lot of buyers wait because they think they need a huge savings account first. But many loan options allow much lower down payments, like:

3% down with some conventional loans
3.5% down with FHA
0% down with VA or USDA, if you qualify

The right number depends on your credit, income, loan type, and what feels comfortable for your monthly payment.

So before you count yourself out, ask questions. You may be closer than you think.
