This week had a little bit of everything.
Pricing improved early in the week, then gave some of it back by Thursday.
Friday brought the twist: July's jobs report came in weaker than expected, and that soft labor data pulled things back in buyers' favor to close out the week.
It's a good reminder that rates don't move in a straight line. Staying ready matters more than trying to time it perfectly.

This week opened with some hope. Middle East tensions paused, and there was talk of positive conversations with Iran.

That didn't last. By Wednesday, attacks had escalated again and oil ticked back up, right as the Fed sat down for its meeting.

The Fed held rates steady, as expected, though three officials dissented in favor of a hike. Growth cooled slightly, but jobs stayed resilient and inflation kept easing.

By Friday, consumer sentiment improved as gas prices eased, even with rate-hike odds for September climbing back above 65%.

This week, geopolitics drove the story.

Oil climbed toward $88 a barrel as tensions overseas escalated, and by Friday the administration signaled it could consider a bigger response.

That uncertainty kept flipping expectations for next week's Fed decision. Midweek, markets leaned toward a hike. By Friday, odds shifted back toward no change at all.

Meanwhile the fundamentals held up. Manufacturing stayed near its strongest levels in years, and new home sales beat expectations.

This week had a little of everything.
Inflation data came in cooler than expected, which gave markets some breathing room early on.
Then tensions overseas flared back up, pulling oil prices along for the ride.
By Friday, things settled. Housing starts jumped, and consumer confidence rose for a second straight month after hitting a record low in May.
Markets rarely move in a straight line. That's exactly why it helps to have someone watching it for you.
