Michigan is preparing for a powerful storm system known as a bomb cyclone, which may bring high winds, heavy snow, ice, and potential power outages across the state. Now is the time to prepare and stay safe.

🔌 Generator Safety Tips
If you plan to use a generator:

✅ Never run generators indoors or in garages — carbon monoxide is deadly

✅ Keep generators at least 20 feet away from doors and windows

✅ Plug appliances directly into the generator (avoid backfeeding)

✅ Let generators cool before refueling

✅ Use outdoor‑rated extension cords only

💡 If You Lose Power

Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible

Use flashlights instead of candles

Unplug sensitive electronics to prevent surge damage

Check on neighbors, especially seniors or those with medical needs

If you leave your home, shut off water to help prevent frozen pipe damage
