*Issue 1 Makes Future Citizen Ballot Initiatives Effectively Impossible*
The worst part of Issue 1 isn't even the fact that it makes the threshold for citizen's initiatives to need 60% of the vote to pass (while a handful of bought legislators still only need 50% to pass their extremist laws in the Statehouse) - it's that it makes the ballot access process effectively impossible to attain, meaning getting ballot initiatives on the ballot in the first place for voters to decide will become no longer possible. THAT is the real danger and another key reason we need to VOTE NO on Issue 1.
They are literally designing the process to be where one small contingent of one small county can BLOCK an initiative supported by the mass majority of Ohioans from even being considered on your electoral ballot.
The smallest county in Ohio (Vinton County) with only around 8,363 voters and no cities could possibly overrule all the other voters (that’s all of us) of the other 87 counties if the extremist Issue 1 passes.
That is literally a tyranny of a minority.
The corrupt politicians in the Ohio statehouse want to be immune from accountability, and be able to ignore the will of the people without ramifications.
And women's reproductive rights and personal healthcare privacy isn't the only thing at risk here - the legalization of ma*****na (like half the states in the country already allow), popular labor protection laws, and bans on gerrymandering (that have overwhelmingly passed in previous citizen ballot initiatives), can all now be completely ignored and discarded (as they already are being done) by this out of touch group of corrupt politicians.
Don't give corrupted politicians yet MORE power over our lives...
VOTE NO on Issue 1
