To our customers, our friends and our customers and friends who are like family…. Regarding the Ward Mountain Fire:
Stay Calm, but stay informed. This is just good advice to use for every day to keep that nervous system happy.❤️
We are here to field your calls, emails and texts, but please be patient with us as there are many. Our doors are closed in order to handle the phone traffic. If we do not answer please leave a message and we will call you back
Start Off: Stay Informed - Download the Watch Duty App, check the White Pine County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Forest Service-Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest pages to stay up to date.
Some shared nuggets from a friend that I felt so very helpful and that I have added to as well.
💗Video the outside and the inside of your home; showing as many things as you can, open cabinets and drawers and hover on those longer as cameras are blurry in human hands. Take photos of expensive items, you want to make sure you have a good image of them, serial numbers of appliances as well. This will be so helpful in the event you need to submit an insurance claim you have proof of a very up to date inventory AND it saves you brain power.
💗Gather important docs: birth certificates, passports, social security cards, insurance cards, marriage certificates, house plans and at least one copy of every bill and credit card so you know your account numbers and who to call if necessary.
💗Water, don’t forget to take water, to drink and to wet a mask to keep smoke out of your lungs.
💗Pack as many chargers as you can when you do pack. Keep your devices charged and have back up.
💗Don’t forget medications.
💗Pack a grab bag of some overnight essentials, all meds in there until the fire is contained.
💗Pick a rendezvous place and share it with important people, if you’re evacuated and the cell signal is down, you go there and meet your important people. It should be far enough away to be safe but close enough everyone can reach it. You might not always have that cell tower, so make a plan in case.
💗 Have pet crates, leashes, meds, food and comfort items for them ready to go.
💗 If you have the time, go room to room and just have a list of “must grabs.” Items that are sentimental/irreplaceable/valuable.
💗Remember…. It’s ultimately just stuff. Protect your living ones and move if you are called to move.
We’ve got this White Pine.💙
❤️On a personal note, I am home with my family prepping as our neighborhood is currently in Level 1, Zone 1. I am not panicked, I know we have an amazing crew fighting for our community’s resources, wildlife and homes. I am eternally grateful for them all. My prepping is precautionary and I hope I don’t have to pack anything, but my heart and head will be better to help if I too am prepared.
