🐶 Tip Tuesday: Your Dog Is Adorable—Your Insurance Company May Have Questions

Your dog may be the friendliest member of the family—until a delivery driver, neighbor, or unfamiliar guest steps into the yard.

Homeowners and renters insurance may provide liability protection if your dog bites or injures someone, but coverage can vary. Some insurers restrict certain breeds, exclude animals with a bite history, or apply lower liability limits.

Even playful behavior can lead to an expensive claim. If your dog knocks someone down, causes a cyclist to crash, or decides the delivery driver looks suspicious, you could be responsible for medical bills, legal expenses, and other damages.

💪 Power Tip: Tell your insurance agent about every dog in your household and confirm how animal-related injuries are covered. Consider higher liability limits or an umbrella policy for additional protection.

At Power Three Insurance Group, we help protect every member of the family—even the ones who bark at absolutely nothing.

⚡It’s Thursday, which means it’s time to introduce another person who puts the “Power” in Power Three!

Meet Will Miller, Will was recently promoted to Senior Account Executive specializing in Personal Lines.

Will has been with Power Three for two and a half years and has worked in insurance for three years. He specializes in creating tailored Home and Auto insurance solutions, along with coverage for a particularly unique risk—commercial boat charters. 🚤

What does Will enjoy most about his role? Finding creative solutions for unusual risks while making sure every client feels informed, confident, and personally cared for.

Now for the fun stuff:

🎿 He loves skiing during the winter
🛹 In warmer weather, you may find him longboarding around the city
🏎️ He’s a car enthusiast who loves checking out car shows
🔥 He enjoys grilling with friends on Chicago rooftops
🐶 His family has a two-year-old rescue dog named Finn
⚾ He’s a loyal Chicago White Sox fan
🏔️ He frequently travels to Colorado
🍽️ He’s always ready to try a new restaurant

Will grew up in Downers Grove and considers family an important part of his life. His mom, dad, sister, and dog Finn remain some of the most important members of his personal pit crew.

His unusual talent? Will can spend just as much time analyzing a Porsche at a car show as he can reviewing an insurance policy—which tells you everything you need to know about his attention to detail. Fortunately, only one of those comes with deductibles. 😉

Will describes his office superpower as finding creative solutions for complex risks and making insurance easier for clients to understand. His coworkers would describe him as passionate, funny, and innovative.

His favorite part of working at Power Three?

“Being part of an office that is more than just a work environment—it’s a family.”

We’re proud to have Will on our team and excited to feature him in our Power Behind the People series!

Check back next Thursday to meet another member of the Power Three family. ⚡

🏎️ When your team genuinely loves what they insure, it shows.

This past weekend, Will Miller and Ed Rodriguez represented Power Three Insurance Group at in Chicago, spending the day surrounded by some incredible collector, classic, exotic, and enthusiast vehicles.

For Will and Ed, this isn’t just another insurance market—it’s something they’re genuinely passionate about.

As an independent insurance agency, we believe one of our biggest strengths is having people on our team who understand the unique risks our clients bring to us. Collector and enthusiast vehicles are a perfect example. These aren’t simply cars sitting in a garage—they’re investments, projects, memories, and, for many owners, a lifelong passion.

That’s why having the right carrier relationships matters. Through companies like Hagerty, our team can help clients find coverage specifically designed for vehicles that deserve more than a standard auto policy.

We’re proud to have Will and Ed representing Power Three in the enthusiast community—building relationships, expanding their expertise, and having a little fun along the way. Judging by this picture, we’re not sure how difficult the “work” part was. 😂

💪 That’s the Power Three difference: Find people who care about what our clients care about, give them access to great insurance partners, and let that passion translate into better advice and better service.

Have a collector, classic, exotic, or enthusiast vehicle in your garage? Will and Ed would love to talk cars—and make sure what you’ve built or collected is properly protected.

🏗️ Tip Tuesday: The Claim Is Covered—But Are the Required Code Upgrades?

After a fire, storm, or other covered loss, repairing the damaged portion of a home or commercial building may only be part of the expense.

If the property was built under older standards, local authorities could require updated electrical wiring, plumbing, roofing, fire protection, accessibility features, or other improvements before reconstruction is approved. A standard property policy may not fully cover these additional costs.

Ordinance or Law Coverage can help pay for:

🏚️ Demolishing portions of the building that were not damaged but must be removed
🚧 Reconstructing the undamaged portion
⚡ Bringing repairs up to current building codes
🏢 Required safety or accessibility improvements

💪 Power Tip: Older properties aren’t the only concern—building codes change regularly. Ask your insurance agent whether your policy includes Ordinance or Law Coverage and whether the limit reflects the potential cost of today’s code requirements.

The building inspector does not accept “but my insurance covered the fire” as a construction plan.

At Power Three Insurance Group, we help clients prepare for the rebuilding costs that may be hiding behind the walls.

We’re lucky to have Ashley on our team and excited to see everything she continues to accomplish!

🚗☕ Tip Tuesday: When the Coffee Run Becomes a Company Claim

An employee uses their personal vehicle to grab lunch for a meeting, visit a client, make a bank deposit, or pick up supplies. It may feel like a quick favor—but once they’re driving for work, your business could be pulled into an accident claim.

Hired and Non-Owned Auto Liability coverage can help protect your company when employees use personal, rented, or borrowed vehicles for business purposes.

Without it, one little errand could deliver much more than everyone’s coffee.

💪 Power Tip: Ask how employees use vehicles for work—even occasionally. Review your commercial auto policy to confirm you have the appropriate hired and non-owned auto coverage before someone volunteers to “run out really quick.”

At Power Three Insurance Group, we help businesses uncover the everyday exposures that are easy to overlook—until they aren’t.

It’s time to meet the people who put the “Power” in Power Three!

First up is Ed Rodriguez, an Account Executive specializing in Personal and Commercial Lines.

Ed joined Power Three three months ago after spending five years in the hospitality industry—and he even helped open a restaurant at just 22 years old. That experience gives him a firsthand understanding of the challenges business owners face and makes him a natural fit for helping our hospitality clients.

Today, Ed specializes in Home and Auto, Hospitality, and Trucking insurance. His favorite part of the job is getting to know clients, building relationships, and helping them find coverage that fits their needs.

He also appreciates that our job doesn’t end when a policy is issued. When a claim happens, Ed believes in stepping up, advocating for the client, and helping them through the process. That’s insurance with a little more muscle behind it. 💪

Now for the fun stuff:

🍳 He loves cooking
⛳ He enjoys golfing
🏺 He regularly visits antique and thrift shops
🐻 He’s a Chicago Bears fan—so he clearly understands loyalty
🌺 Honolulu, Hawaii, is one of his favorite destinations
🥋 He earned a black belt in tae kwon do growing up
🍝 Sunday dinner with his family and grandparents is a weekly tradition

Ed describes his office superpower as being versatile and finding creative approaches to unique situations. His coworkers would describe him as creative, intuitive, and thoughtful.

His favorite part of working at Power Three?

“Being in the office feels like being at home, where my coworkers make me feel like family.”

We’re happy to have Ed on the team and excited to feature him as the first employee in our new Power Behind the People series!

Be sure to check back next Thursday to meet another member of the Power Three family. 💪

💍 Tip Tuesday: Newly Married? Make Sure Your Insurance Says “I Do,” Too!

If you recently tied the knot—like our own Director of Operations—congratulations! Getting married combines more than families and finances; it can also change your insurance and employee benefits needs. Once the celebration is over, take time to make sure your coverage is ready for this exciting new chapter.

🏠 Personal Lines: Consider combining auto policies, updating names and addresses, adding valuable wedding gifts or jewelry, reviewing home or renters coverage, and increasing liability limits if needed. Marriage may also qualify you for multi-policy discounts.

🏢 Commercial Lines: If either spouse owns a business, review ownership information, emergency contacts, beneficiaries, key-person coverage, shared vehicles, and any home-based business exposures.

❤️ Employee Benefits: Marriage is typically a qualifying life event, allowing you to add your spouse to health, dental, or vision coverage outside of open enrollment—but deadlines often apply. Compare both employers’ plans before deciding where each spouse should enroll.

💪 Power Tip: Don’t automatically combine every policy or benefit. Compare coverage, deductibles, provider networks, costs, and limits first. The best option for one spouse may not be the best option for both.

At Power Three Insurance Group, we can help protect your new life together—from your home and business to your health and financial future.

💧 Tip Tuesday: Don't Let a Small Backup Become a Big Expense

Most homeowners assume water damage is covered by their insurance—but that's not always the case.

🚿 Water Backup Coverage helps protect you if water backs up through sewers, drains, or sump pumps and damages your home or belongings. Without this endorsement, you could be responsible for thousands of dollars in cleanup and repairs.

💪Power Tip: Take a few minutes to review your policy and make sure you have the right water backup limits. It's one of the most affordable coverages you can add—and one of the most valuable when you need it.

At Power Three Insurance Group, we believe understanding your coverage before a claim happens is just as important as having the right policy.

Have questions about your current protection? We're always happy to help.
