February is American Heart Month & February 13th is Aortic Aneurysm Day ❤️

An aortic aneurysm is a dangerous, often asymptomatic, enlargement or bulging of the wall of the aorta, the body's largest artery.

It is estimated that 43,000 patients die each year from aortic diseases.

Increased awareness is critical in managing the condition and reducing the high risk of rupture and death.

Heart disease is the number 1 killer of men & women; taking more lives than all forms of cancer combined!

Every 33 seconds someone dies in the US from cardiovascular diseases - roughly equivalent to a September 11th - like tragedy repeating itself every 24 hours, 365 days a year.

In 2025 more than 605,000 Americans had a heart attack; nearly half of them occurred without prior symptoms or warning signs!

Current estimates are that nearly 6.5 million Americans over the age of 20 have heart failure.

One major study estimates there are 960,000 new heart failure cases annually.

Not only is heart failure a major problem affecting many people, heart failure is also a major killer.

Thanksgiving is a time for family and holiday traditions including taste tested, Thanksgiving recipes. It's also a time where family members may want to join in the food preparation so fire safety is important. With the speed of deep-frying a turkey, the irresistible flavor, and juiciness that results, turkey frying has become a Thanksgiving tradition for some. But turkey fryers have the potential to cause fire and serious injury, which is why organizations like Underwriters Laboratories and the National Fire Protection Association advises against using them. If you plan to deep-fry your holiday bird, be sure you know how to safely use the fryer, and take these precautions to protect yourself, your guests and your home.

🦃

TIPS TO HELP PREVENT DEEP FRIED TURKEY ACCIDENTS :

•Keep outdoor fryers off decks, out of garages and a safe distance away from trees and other structures.
•Make sure the turkey is thawed and dry before cooking. Ice or water that mixes into the hot oil can cause flare-ups.
•Watch the weather. Never operate a fryer outdoors in the rain or snow.
•Place the fryer on a level surface, and avoid moving it once it's in use.
•Leave 2 feet between the tank and the burner when using a propane-powered fryer.
•Follow the manufacturer's instructions to avoid overfilling. Oil can ignite when it makes contact with the burner.
•Choose a smaller turkey for frying. A bird that's 8 to 10 pounds is best; pass on turkeys over 12 pounds.
•Never leave fryers unattended.
•Purchase a fryer with temperature controls, and watch the oil temperature carefully. Cooking oil that is heated beyond its smoke point can catch fire. If you notice the oil is smoking, turn the fryer off.
•Turn off the burner before lowering the turkey into the oil. Once the turkey is submerged, turn the burner on.
•Wear goggles to shield your eyes, use oven mitts to protect your hands and arms and keep an "ABC" or grease-rated fire extinguisher close by. Do not to use water or a garden hose on a fire related to Turkey Fryers.
•Skip the stuffing when frying turkey, and avoid water-based marinades.
•Keep children and pets away from the fryer at all times.
•Once finished, carefully remove the pot from the burner, place it on a level surface and cover to let the oil cool overnight before disposing.
•Opt for an oil-less fryer. This uses infrared heat, rather than oil, to cook the turkey.

The months U.S. drivers are most likely to collide with a large animal are November, October and December. (In that order) Follow these tips to help increase your safety on the road!

🦌

Stay alert. Scan the road for animals and pay attention to "deer crossing" and other animal signs.

Reduce distractions. Put your cell phone away. It can help you avoid injuring motorcyclists, bicyclists, pedestrians and animals too.

Slow down, especially if you see an animal close to the road.

Brake as necessary. If you can avoid hitting the animal, reduce your speed, honk your horn and tap your brakes to warn other drivers.

Don't swerve. If a crash with an animal is inevitable, maintain control of your vehicle and do not veer off of the road.

Use high beams. Flicking your high beams on a deer may cause the animal to scurry away.

Be mindful of meal time. Watch for animals on the road between dusk and dawn.

Watch for herds. If you see one deer, there are probably more nearby.
