🚨 Important Announcement🚨The KCT Branch at Gail Borden Public Library's Main location will be closed the rest of today, Friday, January 23rd. The South Elgin branch, however, is still open at this time. Regular business hours at the Gail Borden Main location are scheduled to resume tomorrow, Saturday, January 24th.

Main Library Building Closed for Services (1/23/26). Main Lobby Entrance open until 6 pm as warming shelter.

Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the comfort of visitors and staff, the Main Library building will be closed today, January 23. While we hoped to stay open, the "new carpet smell" from the KidSpace renovation is a bit stronger than expected. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

What you need to know:
- Main Library Building Closed for services.
- Main Library Lobby Entrance open until 6 pm as warming shelter.
- Branches are open until 5 pm!

1/23/26 - 10 am: We are currently in the process of installing new carpeting as part of the renovation project. While we're excited for the fresh look, the recarpeting has caused some strong smells. To keep everyone safe and comfortable, KidSpace will remain closed today.

Good news? The rest of the Main Library remains open for browsing, and you can still pick up your holds at one of our available pickup locations. 📚

⚠ Important Announcement! ⚠ Due to the extreme cold being forecast, the KCT branch at Elgin Community College will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 23rd. We apologize for the inconvenience. Regular business hours at the ECC location are expected to resume on Saturday, January 24th, 2026.

Elgin Community College will be closed on Friday, January 23, due to extreme cold weather. All classes and events are canceled. College operations will resume Saturday, January 24, at 6 am.

Friendly reminder that all KCT branches will have Holiday hours for New Year's Eve & Day! 🥂

Tomorrow, Wednesday, December 31st, the KCT branches at Gail Borden Public Library & Elgin Community College will be closed, while all other branches & the Contact Center will be open from 9am - 1pm.

All locations & the Contact Center will be closed on Thursday, January 1st, in observance of New Year's Day. Regular business hours will resume on Friday, January 2nd.
