If you get diagnosed with Prostate cancer, your provider may want a preliminary PET scan. Medicare typically covers PET scans for prostate cancer only after initial treatment, specifically for restaging to detect residual disease, suspected recurrence, or to determine the extent of a known recurrence, but not for the initial diagnosis or staging of the cancer. If you get a phone call regarding "Extra benefits" they are referring to Vision, Dental, Hearing coverage and is SPECIFIC to Medicare Advantage (Part C). While the extra benefits are nice to help offset risk, it does not mean you are missing out if you do not have a Medicare Advantage plan. Original Medicare and a Medicare Supplement DOES NOT offer extra benefits, but has much lower out of pocket cost potential. Whereas Medicare Advantage may offer extra benefits, but comes with MORE out of pocket cost potential. Flex cards are a legitimate benefit, but they are offered by specific private Medicare Advantage plans only, not directly by the federal government's Original Medicare program. If the Affordable Care Act enhanced premium tax credits are allowed to expire at the end of 2025. It will result in subsidies going down and prices going up for insurance in 2026 leading to a rise in the amount of uninsured.

This analysis apportions the increase in the number of uninsured across the 50 states and DC. CBO estimates that the reconciliation law will increase the number of uninsured by 10M in 2034 and rise to over 14M if enhanced premium tax credits for ACA Marketplace enrollees expire later this year.
