This was a FUN program! We sent every student home with their own strawberry plant that they planted after school. 🍓🪴

AND it would be pretty fun to see the 4-H Staff get pied in the face at the Open House event. We'll be there!!!

🍀 TODAY is the LAST DAY to support $4 for 4-H on 4/4!!! 🍀

❤️ THANK YOU, Elbert County!!! ❤️ Not only did you make sure we were in the first 10 counties to turn green, you have also surpassed our giving total from last year!!!

We do not have a current update on totals, but we anticipate that you HAVE met the goal to 🥧 Ms. Alex!!! Can we get 💲440 more dollars to make sure Ms. Lauren also gets a 🥧 in the face?!?
Here's the GOAL:
✅ 24 Donations to turn Elbert County Green
✅ $1,004 🥧 for Ms. Alex
$1,444 🥧 for Ms. Lauren
$1,844 🪣🫗 Cooler of Ice Water Over BOTH Their Heads!
IF we reach the goal, we will do this at our Open House event for the new building so everyone gets to watch! 💚🤍💚🤍 Will you help?!? (Make sure you put May 5th, 3pm-7pm on your calendar NOW!)
DONATE HERE: georgia4h.org/four.

FUN FACT: ELEVATE is an after school educational club that meets once a month. Keep Elbert County Beautiful and Elbert County Farm Bureau Outreach are partners in this activity and we have had great fun together! Last month, we met on "Farm to Table" day of Georgia Ag Week. Students learned about all the edible parts of a plant, tried some of those plants and even made smoothies on the blender bike. Can you name an edible root, stem, leaf, flower, seed and fruit?!?

It's always a fun day when we get invited to "Farm to School!"

Thank you to our wonderful friends at Elbert County Farm Bureau Outreach for donating another book to the library! The Elbert County Farm Bureau members are always so supportive of the library and active in our community. “I Love Blueberries” will be a great book to get Elbert County kids interested in the magic of growing things with their own hands!

Elbert County Farm Bureau is pleased to offer a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training for anyone who is interested. This is a wonderful learning opportunity for anyone who supports “Ag in the Classroom” efforts in your county, who volunteers or works with other youth serving organizations or who has children of their own. While the estimated cost of this training is $100 and includes resource books, it is offered to our District II counties for only $5 to help offset the cost of lunch (which will be provided). The training will be held on Thursday, March 26, from 9am-4pm, at the Elbert County Extension Office (1190 Athens Tech Road).

What Mental Health First Aid Covers
• Common Signs and symptoms of mental health including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD)
• Common signs and symptoms of substance abuse
• Interaction with children or adolescents in crisis
• Connecting youth with resources
• Expanded content on trauma, substance abuse, self-care, and the impact of social media and bullying

With a Georgia Farm Bureau focus on mental health, becoming a Youth Mental Health First Aider will help you understand challenges and become an advocate for mental wellbeing. Please RSVP to Haley Oakley ([email protected]) by Monday, March 23. You must provide an email address to register. There is pre-work online that must be completed. Questions? Call 706-283-3675 and ask for Haley Oakley.

Farm Safety Week is a reminder that every ride matters. ATVs and UTVs are powerful tools, but they can also be dangerous when used unsafely. Always wear proper gear, follow age guidelines, and stick to safe riding practices. Let’s keep our farms and families safe.
