A year ago, Kaysie joined PDA and brought with her something that has become such an important part of our team: a genuine passion for helping veterans tell their stories!

As our Narrative Chief, Kaysie leads the narrative team and helps ensure that every veteran’s experience is captured fully, honestly, and in a way that reflects the impact of their service. Her background as a Registered Nurse, her experience as a military spouse, and her ability to truly listen all come together in the work she does every day.

But more than anything, Kaysie cares about people. She understands that behind every claim is a veteran, a family, and a story that deserves to be heard.
We’re grateful for the heart, experience, and dedication she brings to PDA every day.

Happy one-year anniversary, Kaysie. We’re so glad you’re here! ❤️🇺🇸

Employee Spotlight 🇺🇸

Damaris Maxfield is a dedicated paralegal, experienced legal professional, and advocate for those who have served. She serves as VA Benefits Staffer and Paralegal with Patriot Disability Advocates, bringing more than a decade of legal experience to the veterans and families she helps every day.

Born and raised in South Arkansas, Damaris developed a strong commitment to serving others early in life. She was raised by her grandmother and grandfather—a Vietnam veteran—who instilled in her the values of honesty, hard work, dedication, and helping others. Those same principles guide her work today and are the values she passes on to her two daughters, Morgan and Mara.

Damaris built her legal career at a law firm in El Dorado, Arkansas, where she worked for many years and helped countless clients navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Her professional background spans criminal defense, estate planning, and probate law, with deep experience in case management, legal document preparation, and client advocacy. Throughout her career, she has been known for accuracy, discretion, and professionalism—qualities that now anchor PDA’s paralegal operations.

In addition to her legal background, Damaris brings experience in substance abuse counseling, which strengthens her ability to communicate effectively, navigate sensitive situations, and provide compassionate, client-centered support. This combined skill set is particularly valuable in veteran advocacy, where clients often carry the weight of service-connected trauma alongside their claims.

Damaris lives in South Arkansas. She has two daughters, Morgan and Mara. Today, Damaris applies her legal training, counseling background, and lifelong commitment to service to help veterans move through the VA disability claims process with clarity and confidence. Her mission is simple: every veteran and every claimant deserves to feel respected, supported, and heard at every stage of their claim.

We are blessed to have Damaris a part of our team!!!

🇺🇸 Testimonial Tuesday🇺🇸
Real people, Real challenges, Real Outcome

Stephen G.

After I retired from the military, I gradually lost contact with the military medical system and the doctors who understood my service history. For years, I relied almost entirely on civilian physicians. While they treated my symptoms, they generally didn't understand how to document or connect my medical conditions to my military service in a way the VA recognizes for disability claims.

Over 37 years of military service, including combat deployments and numerous overseas assignments, I accumulated a wide range of physical and medical issues from the demands of service. Like many veterans, I simply lived with the pain and kept moving forward. When I finally decided it was time to file a VA disability claim, I quickly hit dead ends. I didn't have civilian doctors who knew how to properly document service-connected conditions, and I didn't have anyone who understood the VA claims process — what evidence was required, what terminology mattered, or how to present my medical history in a format the VA would accept. That changed when I connected with Patriot Disability Advocates. Their team encouraged me from the first conversation and gave me the confidence to start gathering my records, documenting my conditions, and pursuing the benefits I had earned through my years of service.

With PDA's guidance, my conditions were properly documented in the format and language the VA recognizes, and my packet was complete, accurate, and organized. I truly believe that without their help, my claim would not have moved nearly as quickly or as smoothly as it did.

As part of the normal VA process, I attended several Compensation and Pension (C&P) examinations. Those appointments went well because my claim had already been properly documented and supported.
What stood out most was PDA's involvement throughout the entire process. Their team stayed on top of my claim — tracking where it was, identifying anything that needed attention, and keeping everything moving forward. That level of visibility gave me confidence my claim wasn't just sitting somewhere with no one watching it.

Having a team that knows the process, understands what the VA requires, and stays with you from start to finish made a tremendous difference. I'd like to sincerely thank Patriot Disability Advocates for their professionalism, knowledge, and dedication. Their guidance made what could have been an overwhelming process much easier, and I genuinely appreciate everything they did to help me receive the benefits I earned through my military service.

🇺🇸Stories like this are why we do what we do. If you or someone you know needs support, reach out. We’re here to help🇺🇸
