PUBLIC ASSISTANCE NEEDED: TELECOMMUNICATIONS
INFRASTRUCTURE THEFTS
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office, in coordination with AT&T, is seeking the public's assistance in identifying individuals involved in the theft of telecommunications wire and equipment.
Deputies have recently responded to several reports involving stolen telephone wiring and thefts near cell-tower sites. Our agency has charged two persons, thus far, with more charges pending. Deputy Bobby Beeler is the lead investigator in our county.
Damaging or stealing communications infrastructure can disrupt essential services, including residents' ability to contact emergency responders via 9-1-1.
AT&T has established a tip line for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for damaging, destroying, or stealing critical-infrastructure equipment. A reward of up to $10,000 may be available.
AT&T Tip Line: 800-807-4205
Lyon County Sheriffโs Office: 270-388-2311 or 270-388-0911
If you observe suspicious activity near telecommunications equipment, do not approach or confront anyone.
Note the location, vehicle description, license plate, and direction of travel when it is safe to do so, and then contact local law enforcement. Call 9-1-1 for emergencies or crimes in progress.
