President Trump announced plans for purchase of $200 billion in mortgage-backed securities.

In plain English:
This is money being used to buy mortgage loans, which usually helps push mortgage rates lower or keep them from rising.

Why this matters to everyday people:
• Mortgage rates are tied to these bonds
• More buying = more demand
• More demand can mean lower monthly payments for buyers and homeowners

Could it be the right time to start getting preapproved for you? Lets look at a timeline together ..

Say your goal is to purchase a house in the spring

We can get you preapproved on your own time, in as little as an hour or two. That preapproval letter does not expire for 4 WHOLE MONTHS, giving you until May to shop around and find the perfect home!

Now, lets say you find that perfect house in February. Typically, it takes about 30 days from accepted offer to settlement. So if your offer gets accepted in February your closing will likely be in March.

There is always a full month between your closing date and your first mortgage payment due date. So if you close in March, your first payment skips over the rest of March and all of April.
