Wishing you a Happy Independence Day from all of us at The Easton Group.

This year's Independence Day carries added significance as our nation approaches a remarkable milestone: 250 years since we severed our political ties to Great Britain and King George III.

In 1682, William Penn, counseled by his fellow Quaker, Algernon Sydney, drafted the Pennsylvania constitution. Penn described the form of government, shaped by careful study and conviction, as his "holy experiment":

"There may be room there for such a Holy Experiment, for the Nations want a precedent. And my God will make it the seed of a Nation. That an example may be set up to the Nations. That we may do the thing that is truly wise and just."
— William Penn

More than a century later, the Founders would gather in Philadelphia, Penn's "city of brotherly love", to craft the formative documents of a new nation. From Philadelphia, the Declaration of Independence emerged on July 4, 1776.

As we celebrate, we're reminded that this American experiment is not only an historical achievement, but an ongoing responsibility, carried day by day through the choices we make, the communities we strengthen, and the principles we uphold. May we honor this moment by pursuing what is truly wise and just, and by contributing, each in our own way, to the enduring work of our nation.
