“We’re thrilled to welcome Colonial Federal employees and customers into the North Shore Bank and Hometown Financial Group family,” said Hometown Financial Group Chairman and CEO, Matthew S. Sosik.

It's official! North Shore Bank now has $3.3 billion in assets and 29 branches in eastern Massachusetts, including 15 on the North Shore and 14 on the South Shore, which includes 10 existing Abington Bank locations and 4 Colonial Federal locations in Quincy, Holbrook, and Weymouth.

Hometown Financial Group, Inc. (“Hometown”) and CFSB Bancorp, Inc. (CFSB), the bank holding company for Colonial Federal Savings Bank, jointly announced today that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement in which Hometown will acquire CFSB.

As a result of the transaction, Colonial Federal will merge into North Shore Bank to create a $3.3 billion bank with 29 retail locations across the North Shore and South Shore of Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. At closing, the Colonial Federal branches located in Quincy, Holbrook, and Weymouth will become part of North Shore Bank.

Gil’s journey in banking began in 1979 when he started part-time at Schenectady Savings Bank while still in school. What began as a step towards a career in accounting and finance turned into a long and illustrious path, with many executive roles along the way. From Senior Vice President at multiple banks to his role as Senior Executive Vice President, CFO & Treasurer at Hometown Financial Group, Gil’s expertise has made a lasting impact on the industry.

Not only has Gil shaped the financial landscape, but he also ran Bank Street Investment Advisors, providing investment advisory services to financial institutions, managing portfolios totaling around $700 million.

Wishing Gil a happy and healthy retirement, and we’re grateful for the incredible legacy he leaves behind! 🌟

That’s what the Retail teams from our Hometown Financial Group banks and North Shore Bank found when they got together to make new friends, connect with colleagues, and brush up on skills like change management, emotional agility, problem-solving, and defaulting to curiosity. And, in line with our Core Values, we laughed often and had FUN!
