One of the best parts of being in this industry is how deeply we care for our communities.

We're helping families in need state-wide in this year's Give Week!

If you haven't donated yet, every dollar goes to helping a family going through one of the hardest times in their life. Let's make it a little easier on them.

Advocacy in action.

HB 5373 has been signed into law, eliminating Connecticut's diligent effort requirement for excess and surplus lines placements. This reform reduces unnecessary paperwork, streamlines access to coverage, and reflects the power of member advocacy.

Thank you to the Big I Connecticut members who helped make this win possible.

❤️ GIVE Week Day 2 ❤️

We're already seeing donations come in, and we want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed so far!

If you're new to GIVE Week, it's a nationwide initiative led by the Big "I" Young Agents Committee that brings insurance professionals together to give back and support their communities.

This year, NextGen Connecticut are supporting Ronald McDonald House and the families who rely on its care during some of life's most challenging moments.

There's still plenty of time to make an impact. Every donation, big or small, helps provide comfort, support, and hope to families who need it most.

We recently had the pleasure of stopping by to visit some of our members while we were in Connecticut, including the fantastic team at Keating Agency (and their four-legged coworker, Agent 🐾).

One of our favorite things about these visits is the chance to sit down face-to-face, hear what's happening in your agency, answer questions, and make sure you're getting the most out of your Big I CT membership.

Whether you're looking for a specific resource, want to learn about programs available to your agency, talk through a challenge, or simply connect with our team, we're always happy to stop by when we're in the area.

If you'd like to schedule an agency visit, reach out to us Kathy Lawler at [email protected]. We'll bring the coffee, the conversation, and plenty of answers.

Thanks again to the team at Keating Agency for welcoming us in!

❤️ GIVE Week starts TODAY!

From June 1–10, NextGen CT is joining Young Agents across the country for the National Young Agents Committee's annual GIVE Week initiative. This year, we're raising funds for Ronald McDonald House to help provide comfort, care, and support for families when they need it most.

Now it's our turn to show what the Connecticut insurance community can do.

We're challenging our members, colleagues, friends, and families to help us raise as much as possible over the next 10 days. Every dollar makes a difference.
Let's come together, give back, and make an impact.

At the 2026 Connecticut Women in Insurance Summit, Angela Ripley and Lisa Lounsbury shared an honest conversation about leadership, visibility, self-doubt, and what it takes to step into spaces where women are still often underrepresented.

One of the biggest takeaways?

Confidence doesn’t always come before opportunity. Sometimes it’s built because you chose to walk through the door anyway.

“People are really hard to work with.”

That was one of the first things Jenna Rogers said during her session at the Connecticut Women in Insurance Summit and honestly? Everyone in the room laughed because it’s true.

For all the talk about leadership, productivity, workplace culture, and communication… so much of what makes work difficult comes down to people. The coworker who takes your tone the wrong way. The manager who communicates in one-word emails. The generational disconnect. The office tension nobody addresses directly. The clique-y dynamics that somehow still follow us into adulthood and professional spaces.

And yet, Jenna challenged us to think about it differently.

“Just because they are difficult doesn’t mean they are wrong.”

That line stopped people in their tracks.

Because how often do we immediately assume bad intent? How often do we interpret different communication styles as disrespect, disinterest, or conflict instead of simply… difference?

Her session wasn’t about pretending workplace conflict doesn’t exist. It was about confronting it head on. Learning how to communicate across generations, personalities, work styles, and expectations with more curiosity, less assumption, and better tools to actually move conversations forward.

It opened up a conversation many people probably needed to hear:
that difficult communication doesn’t automatically mean someone is difficult as a person.

And maybe that’s something worth thinking about a little more often.

What if one of the most important leadership skills isn’t strategy, confidence, or communication, but forgiveness?

At the Connecticut Women’s Summit 2026, keynote speaker Claudia St. John delivered one of the most thought-provoking conversations of the day, challenging attendees to rethink the role emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and forgiveness play in workplace culture and leadership.

From the hidden cost of unresolved workplace conflict to the emotional weight professionals carry every day, this conversation struck a chord with so many in the room.

We’re excited to share some of the biggest insights and takeaways from her powerful keynote in our latest blog article.

Not only were these ladies super cool, but one of the best parts of Summit was getting to hear the real stories behind their success.

Beyond their impressive careers and businesses, they shared the kinds of experiences and lessons you only hear when people are willing to be open and authentic about the realities of leadership.

From navigating industries that still underestimate women leaders to building confidence, resilience, and trust along the way, their conversation reminded us how important it is to keep creating space for women to share their stories openly.

We were incredibly lucky to have Mary Scasino, Alane Wilansky, and Michele Dreiding to inspire the room with us.
