A storm can be stressful, so here are a few quick things you can do now to stay safe and help prevent damage:

· Stock up on essentials: food, water, blankets, batteries, and make sure medications/prescriptions are filled

· Charge electronics + double-check smoke detectors & CO alarms

· With the extreme temperatures, turn the heat up higher than normal to help protect against freezing pipes

· Keep exterior vents clear

· If you’re using a generator: keep it OUTSIDE! Never in the house or garage

· Clear gutters and move/trim any branches or loose items that could hit your home

· Salt walkways and driveways to prevent slips and falls

· Put together an emergency kit for the house and a car kit (just in case)

Stay warm, stay safe, and don’t wait until the snow starts. 💙

✨ Founded in 1870, this organization is the oldest nonprofit in the state and the third oldest in the country. They provide adoption, rehoming, veterinary care, humane education, training support, and pet owner assistance programs.
