Some of the best ideas in our business come from sharing experiences with other financial advisors.

Last week, Nathanael spent a couple of days in Wheaton, Illinois, with five other advisors. Together, the six represent practices in Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Virginia, and Delaware.

For 11 years, this group, affectionately known as the “Jedi Council,” has met regularly, both virtually and in person.

Over the years, they've become close friends who genuinely enjoy spending time together. They share ideas, challenge each other's thinking, and are always there to help each other when needed. At the heart of it all is a shared commitment to making each other better.

These friendships are a tremendous resource for our entire team at Flynn Wealth Partners. The ideas and perspectives shared within this group help us continue to grow and find new ways to better serve our clients.

For many families, charitable giving goes beyond simply making a donation. They want to support causes that matter most to them while making thoughtful financial decisions.

Whether you're giving through appreciated investments, making qualified charitable distributions in retirement, or simply planning your annual gifts, there may be strategies worth exploring.

Charitable giving can be most effective when it is considered alongside your retirement, tax, and estate planning as part of your overall financial plan.

Ten years from retirement is a great time to think about what you want that next chapter to look like.

One of the most important first steps? Getting on the same page with your spouse about your goals and priorities.

Homecoming weekend was a fun one for the Flynn family.

Nathanael and Mari watched Nelly and Jett march in the East Lansing Homecoming parade. Nelly helped lead the band as one of the drum majors, with Jett and the drumline coming through near the back.

The next night, the Flynn Wealth Partners office became homecoming headquarters for the kids and a group of friends getting ready for the dance. There were flowers, plenty of pictures, and quite a bit more activity around the office bathrooms than we normally see on a Saturday!

It was a great weekend and a fun way to use the office for something completely different. Go Trojans!

Some of the most important retirement planning happens in conversations, not spreadsheets.

By looking at retirement projections together, we can evaluate how decisions about income, taxes, Social Security, and investments may affect your long-term financial goals.

Thoughtful planning starts with understanding how the pieces fit together.

When planning for retirement, it's not just about how much you've saved. It's also about where you've saved it.

Non-qualified investment accounts and HSAs can provide valuable flexibility before and throughout retirement. In this video, Sam explains why these accounts can play an important role alongside your retirement savings and how the right mix of accounts can support your long-term financial plan.

As families head back to school, it's a good time to revisit your education savings strategy.

Whether you've been contributing to a 529 plan for years or are just getting started, education planning works best when it's coordinated with your retirement, tax, and other long-term financial goals.

At Flynn Wealth Partners, we believe every financial decision is connected. That's why college planning should be part of a comprehensive financial plan, not a separate conversation
