School's coming back, which means your house will be sitting empty on a predictable schedule for the first time all summer.
It's an easy shift to overlook, but it's exactly the routine a break-in relies on.
A few things worth checking this week: make sure exterior doors and windows actually lock (not just close), keep valuables out of sightlines from street-facing windows, and if you don't already have one, a video doorbell or light timer closes an easy gap. None of this requires a full security overhaul, just a few minutes catching what the new schedule exposes.
