The Altoona Police are pleased to announce that we are NOW HIRING!!

Spots are available to join not only one of the best departments in the state, but the largest between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg.

Live here and work here! We pay for you to attend the academy and now offer tuition reimbursement if you are currently in the academy or just finished!

Along with an updated benefits package, our top Patrolman will be making $85,422.97 the final year of our current contract. With new paid maternal and parental leave, now is the perfect time for you to join our team in a rewarding career.

📚🎒 The Because We Care Foundation is hitting the road this week for National Night Out! 🚓🚒🚑

We are incredibly excited to be participating in FOUR National Night Out events across Blair and Cambria Counties! Thanks to the generosity of Bowser’s consultings - PFIA, Walmart Altoona - Plank Road Commons, and private donors, our volunteers will be distributing 400 brand-new bookbags filled with school supplies—100 at each location—to help students start the new school year strong!

⭐ Please note: Altoona will feature our CLEAR bookbags, while the other locations will receive our traditional backpacks.

👮👮‍♀️🚓🚨SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

It is time once again for the annual National Night Out Against Crime!
Please join us, along with Logan Township Police Department - Pennsylvania , Tuesday, August 4th, from 6pm to 9pm at Heritage Plaza in downtown Altoona.
This event provides the opportunity for Law Enforcement and the Community to continue to strengthen our partnership against crime and making our area a safer place to live and grow!
We will have live displays and demos. There will be local food trucks and vendors. The famous Dunk Tank will be there for your opportunity to soak an APD Officer. Of course the night wouldn't be complete without live music from Donny Burns & the 3rd Degree
There will be a raffle with prizes and as always, the event is free to all!
New for 2026 will be a LIVE drone demonstration by APD that you don't want to miss!!
Among the confirmed vendors will be PA State Police , Altoona Fire Fighters IAFF Local 299 , City of Altoona, PA Government , Operation Our Town , UPMC , Urban Air Adventure Park , Blair Emergency Services Chaplain Platoon , and several others.
