I want to share something personal today — something I wish someone had told me when I was starting out.

In my first year, I remember sitting in a tiny district office, staring at my BlackBerry and thinking:

“No one is going to call this number.”

I had no money, no market, no plan, and no idea how people were actually doing this job.

I was scared. I was overwhelmed. And I honestly didn’t know if I was going to make it.

Then a mentor asked me a question that changed the entire direction of my career.

Why are you not getting the most out of your days?
Because you are wasting time.

We all have the same amount of time in a day. Why are some agents producing more than others. There are a number of reasons for this, but the main reason is, they manage their time better than you.

This was something I struggled with mightily early in my career, and I needed to learn some skills that allowed me to be more efficient with my time.

A time audit was an eye-opening exercise that I encourage you to do with your team. You will see an uptick in production and activity immediately.

Just a few things my agents and I are working on:

Reading important reports to know your business more intimately
Making sure they are on track for bonuses that are worth $1000's and tens of thousands of dollars
Getting them to Prime level to purchase a book of business 4X the size of their current book.
How to onboard a producer to get them producing now, or get them out before they cost you too much money.
One of my agents wrote 6 life policies in 2 days.
We are working on a social media plan to better brand them as the expert in their town.

We work on what you want to work on in real time. One on one. These conversations are thoughtful, engaging and wildly productive.

Are you worried your kids or grandkids are going to have a tough time financially when they are on their own?

If you want to help them, there is a product/strategy that works like this.

Fund the product for $100 month for 50 years. Get $2000 a month for the next 40 years. Oh, and it's tax free. And almost risk free.

Pay in $60k. Get out $945k tax free (as long as they live to 100). Also, based on 7.43% annual return. REturns have floor of 0% and a ceiling of 12.5%

You could help by getting it started, and then pass it on to them when they are able to keep funding it.

Nothing is more powerful than 50-60 years of compound interest.

Karl is about to enter his 3rd year as an agency owner.
Karl is working about 50% fewer hours than he did last year
Karls' expenses have been cut almost in half.

In the simplest terms, Karl has learned to be efficient with his time and his money. Once you learn how to do that really well, things really open up for you.

This line came from a coaching call this week from an agent in his 25th month. I LOVE hearing these sentences.

What have we worked on in the past 90 days? We upgraded an employee. Got rid of one that wasn't a good fit and brought in a RINGER! A true professional CSR is such a valuable asset.

We're transferring all of the service work from the agency owner AND the producer to the CSR. Few things are more important than being ruthlessly protective of your time.

We built an awesome presentation out for him to deepen relationships with mortgage brokers. He got a referral the next day.

We are embarking on building his agency's brand on social media. Very few of you are productive in this space. If you can be, you get noticed.
