👀 Fun Fact Friday!

Today is National Curious Events Day, a day dedicated to the strange, unusual, mysterious, and unexplained events and stories that make us stop and wonder, “What happened here?” 🤔

So, what better story to revisit than one from right here in the Northwoods?

In 1893, a strange creature was reportedly discovered in the woods near Rhinelander. It was described as a terrifying beast with horns, claws, spikes, and a rather unusual appearance.

The creature became known as the Hodag! 👹

While the Hodag was eventually revealed to be a hoax, the legend has become an iconic part of Rhinelander history.

Would you have believed the story in 1893? 👀
