📢 USDA Announces New Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) - Stage 1

USDA just released details on the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) Stage 1. The program will operate much like the old ERP, with FSA preparing your application. Initial payments are expected to be around 35% of estimated damages, with potential top-ups coming later.

âś… Crop insurance premiums and fees will be factored in
✅ SCO/ECO coverage likely won’t reduce your payment
âś… If no indemnity was paid, you'll need to wait for Stage 2
❓ Still awaiting details on how “de minimis” acres will be handled

Stay tuned — we'll share updates as more info becomes available!

It is time to start thinking about insuring your Annual Forage crops!
Do you have annual forage crops such as hay grazer, sorghum/sudan, millet, or wheat for grazing? If so, we can help you manage for drought and/or lack of rainfall with our Annual Forage (AF) Insurance.
AF works just like PRF (Pasture, Rainfall, & Forage) except AF is for crops that are planted each year and grown for grazing, haying, silage, etc. Just like PRF, you’ll lock in percentage of rainfall for your area for certain times of the year. If it rains and you make a crop. If it doesn’t rain, you get a check.
Please review the attached flyers. Any questions, give us a call!
The sales closing date is July 15th, which will be here before you know it.

CATTLE PRICES HAVE HIT RECORD HIGHS!
Most of us are pretty good at raising good cattle: Genetics, grass, feed, water. Where many of us have problems is with the marketing/selling of our cattle, especially with this volatile market.
Wiese Crop Insurance can help with that. We offer a product called LRP (Livestock Risk Protection). It’s basically cattle marketing insurance. You can call it a subsidized PUT, or a cattle contract without the margin call. With LRP, you can lock in a price on a future delivery date, anywhere from 13 to 39 weeks out. If, on that date, the price on the CME Feeder Index is less than the price you locked in, you get the difference (minus your premium). It’s easy to do and reasonably priced.

TODAY: Keep your eyes peeled on the market. With the market as volatile as it is right now, you’ll want to watch the prices and be ready to act! Right now you can lock in $2.93/lb. on 550 # steers for early April delivery, or you can lock in $2.63/lb. on 650 # steers. (These numbers change every day.) The great thing about a LRP Policy is that once you’re in the system, you can take advantage of a jump in the market price with just a phone call.
