Employee injuries
Cybercrime
Commercial vehicles
Damage to your own building or equipment

Myth: "My homeowners insurance covers my business."

Most homeowners policies offer very limited coverage for business activities. Inventory, equipment, customer injuries, business income, and professional services usually aren't covered the way business owners expect. Even if you work from home, you still should consider business insurance. A hobby that you make money from, isn't a hobby. It's a business!

Why is an insurance agent writing a post about cyber attacks? Cyber attacks are becoming more common amongst small business owners. Cyber Insurance helps to cover business owners financial liability in the event of a claim. However, as a small business owner, you need to help mitigate those risks. Ask yourself these questions and then contact a local IT company. 💻
*Do you use MFA on email and remote access?📩
*Is an EDR installed?
*Do you have offline or immutable backups? 💭
*Are critical patches applied promptly?

Myth #2: "I'm too small to need business insurance."

Small businesses are often more vulnerable because they have fewer financial resources to absorb a loss. One lawsuit, one fire, one employee injury, or one cyberattack can have a much bigger impact on a small business than a large corporation. The smaller your business, the less room there is for an expensive surprise.

Myth: "My LLC protects me from everything

An LLC provides important legal protection, but it doesn't stop someone from suing you. It also doesn't pay legal defense costs or settlements. If the business is liable for an injury or damages, insurance is what helps pay those costs. Think of your LLC as the legal structure. Your insurance is still your financial safety net.
