HOUSING REHABILITATION GRANT PROGRAM

The Village of Dwight is partnering with the North Central Illinois Council of Governments (NCICG) on a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Housing Rehabilitation Program funded by the federal government. Program partners also include the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and the Tri-County Opportunities Council (TCOC).

The goal of this program is to rehabilitate approximately 10–12 single-family, owner-occupied homes within the Village limits for low-to-moderate income households. Improvements may help make homes safer, healthier, more energy efficient, and bring them up to current code standards.

Residents interested in participating may stop by Village Hall to pick up a survey or contact Village Hall at 815-584-3077 for additional information.

Residents may also receive a letter and survey in the mail regarding this program. We strongly encourage homeowners to complete and return the survey, as participation is a critical part of the grant application process and helps demonstrate community need.

This is a quick turnaround, as completed surveys must be returned by June 3rd.

⚠️ A dangerous line of storms is expected to race across northern Illinois this evening, especially between 6 PM and 9 PM. Once storms line out, the main threats will be damaging winds, QLCS tornadoes, hail, and flash flooding. 🌪️💨🧊🌧️

Some of these storms could become intense as they push east, and while the wind threat may become dominant, embedded tornadoes will still be possible within the line. Torrential rainfall could also cause flash flooding, especially in low-lying and urban areas. Be weather aware tonight and make sure you have multiple ways to get warnings. 🚨📡

**Risk Upgrade**

A severe risk upgrade has occurred for Thursday with a level 3/5 now put in for central IL. This means there's 30-44% probability of severe thunderstorms in/near your location.

The level 3 region has the highest potential for supercells with hazards of hail up to baseball sized, wind gusts up to 75MPH and a couple tornadoes(possibly strong). Timing is 3PM to 11PM. If you live in this region then please be prepared for possible significant severe weather.

The level 2 region has a 15-29% probability of seeing severe storms in/near your location. Storms will likely be more clustered in you region potentially carrying hail up to golf ball sized and winds up to 65MPH. Timing is 3PM to 12AM.

The level 1 region has a 5-14% probability of severe weather in/near your location. Storms will be weaker with hail up to quarters and wind gusts up to 60MPH possible.

Please have a way to receive warnings and be prepared to seek shelter.

Scattered to widespread severe thunderstorms may develop Tuesday from the Southern Plains into the Mid-Mississippi Valley, with all severe hazards possible.

⚠️ Primary Threats:
🌪️ Tornadoes possible, SOME STRONG, especially near the warm front and triple point across parts of Missouri, Illinois, and far southeast Iowa
🧊 Large to very large hail possible, particularly with any discrete supercells
💨 Damaging wind gusts possible, especially if storms organize into lines or clusters

📍 Areas to Watch:
Severe storms could impact a large region including:
• Texas and Oklahoma
• Eastern Kansas
• Missouri
• Illinois
• Iowa
• Other parts of the Mid-Mississippi Valley

⏱️ Timing:
• Tuesday Afternoon: Storms may begin developing across the warm sector
• Tuesday Evening into the Night: Storms could increase in coverage and organize along boundaries

📡 Setup Overview:
Two areas of low pressure are expected to form: one near the Texas/Oklahoma Panhandle and another near northwest Missouri into Iowa. A dryline, warm front, and eventually a cold front will serve as the main triggers for storm development.

While there is still some uncertainty regarding how storms will initiate, strong wind shear, rich moisture, and increasing instability suggest the potential for scattered to widespread severe thunderstorms.
