I was happy to kick off our fundraising efforts for the Rotary Club of Dunwoody at our first weekly meeting in 2026 announcing some details for our fifth annual charity golf tournament to be held at St.Marlo Country Club on Monday, May 18. Check it out here at www.rcdgolftournament.com. We hope to top $100,000 in total giving to Do What You Like to End ALZ - Alzheimers Association in addtion to continued donations to Anchor Place Respite - Dunwoody and our General Fund for all our other service projects.

We're proud to share that the Rotary Club of Dunwoody was recently recognized by the Alzheimer's Association of Georgia for contributing $85,000 over the last four golf tournaments.

This milestone wouldn't be possible without our incredible sponsors, players, volunteers, and community members who show up year after year to support a cause that touches so many families. The next tournament is Monday, May 18, 2026 at St. Marlo Country Club www.rcdtournament.com.

Be aware the terms of Homeowners Policies in Georgia have been changing over the past few years. Many if not most carriers are moving from $1,000 All Peril Deductibles to 1% of Coverage A or more. Additionally, many have moved from Replacement Cost to Actual Cash Value (ACV) when adjusting a claim. This is especially important in consideration of the age of your roof.

If you have made improvements to your property, such as additions or new roofs it is very important that you inform your agent so that he or she can update the record, preventing any confusion in the event of a claim.

Also ask for clarification on optional roof endorsements such as Limited Marring for metal such as gutters, downspouts and metal topped bay windows as examples.

Many carriers also have placed restrictions on writing new homeowners policies with roofs that are currently over 15 years old.

It is prudent to check your renewals thoroughly and ask your agent questions if anything seems unclear BEFORE you have a claim.

If you think you have a roof claim, get an opinion from a roofer you trust BEFORE filing with your carrier to make sure you actually have a claim. Once you call it in to your insurance company, it is considered a claim, whether they pay out or not.

Save the Date!

We want you on Thursday October 30, 2025 which is Rotary Club of Dunwoody USO Volunteer Day. We will serve our service personnel and family members an “All American” lunch of hot dogs with all the condiments, potato chips, fresh fruit, snack bars, home baked cookies, bottled water AND a portion of baked Ziti & Meatballs.

We would like to have eight volunteers for the day from 9 AM to 3PM. Duties vary from greeter, cookie packer, hot dog grill mate (Bob O'Brien), server, bag monitor, and "all around volunteer" to handle anything else that needs to be done to serve our military service personnel.

We ask the bakers to bake about 60 of their favorite hardy cookies. They can be delivered in bulk to the E.48th Street Market on 10/27, 28 and 29 before 6PM. We will repack them on the day of service. Please note hardy cookies are best.

It is strongly recommended that volunteers take MARTA to the airport instead of driving due to the continued limited parking because of construction at the airport.

Members who are unable to volunteer can participate by donating bottled water (small bottles) and snack bars such as Nature Valley available at Costco at reasonable prices. Items can be dropped off at the E.48th Street Market on 10/15 and 16 before 6PM. A shout out to our new members please consider volunteering at the USO, it is one of the most satisfying and rewarding day of service.

Another Dunwoody Art Festival morning with our Rotary Club of Dunwoody volunteers starting at 5:30a. The rain was NOT appreciated but all the artists, vendors and sponsors are in and set up.

Spoke today to our Rotary Club of Dunwoody about our upcoming FORE! the Memories charity golf tournament coming up on May 19 at St. Marlo Country Club. We still have room for more golfers @ www.rcdgolftournament.com.

This is our major fundraiser for the year and it supports Alzheimer’s - The Longest Day, Anchor Place Respite Care of Dunwoody and the Rotary Club of Dunwoody’s Charitable Fund, which makes our other activities of the year possible.
