Thank you to the members who have reported suspicious phone calls. Your reports are helping us identify a phone spoofing scam targeting our community.
First and foremost, Texan Sky Credit Union has not experienced a data breach or cyberattack. Criminals are impersonating financial institutions across the country by using phone spoofing technology to make their calls appear to come from legitimate phone numbers.
One thing we've noticed: On many phones, a legitimate call from us displays "Texan Sky Credit Union" (like the example photo). Some scam calls have been appearing as "Texan Sky CU." While caller ID can vary between devices and carriers, this is one indicator we've seen reported.
The goal of these scammers is to sound credible. They may already know some information about you, but they will try to trick you into providing the information they don't have. Criminals can obtain personal or card information through a variety of sources unrelated to Texan Sky Credit Union including phishing scams, malware, or card skimming devices.
Protect Yourself
Our Fraud Department primarily contacts members through text message or email. Calls are only initiated if a member cannot be reached to verify transactions.
We will never ask for information we already have, including:
• Your account number
• Your address
• Online banking credentials
• Security codes sent to your phone
If a caller pressures you to act immediately or asks you to verify sensitive information, hang up.
Take Action Today
• Change your debit card PIN by calling 1-855-726-4885 and selecting Option 2.
• If you don't use your debit card often, freeze it through Online Banking or the Texan Sky mobile app until you need it.
• If you're ever unsure whether you're speaking with Texan Sky, end the call and manually dial our number to verify the request.
We encourage members to contact us anytime with questions about account security or suspicious activity. We'd much rather answer your questions than have you become the victim of a scam. Your security is our top priority. Thank you for helping us spread the word by sharing this post with friends and family.
