Yesterday, OIA was proud to have one of our members provide testimony in front of the Ohio Senate Judiciary Committee to support House Bill 105, which introduces new transparency and regulatory standards around Third Party Litigation Funding (TPLF).

House Bill 105 is important because it bans foreign adversaries from investing in lawsuits in Ohio and creates a legal environment that is built on transparency. The bill will require that third party litigation funding agreements are published after a case is resolved. This bill is incredibly important to agents as they look to protect their clients from frivolous lawsuits

The OIA team spent our annual Give Back Day volunteering at Gigi's in Canal Wi******er, supporting their incredible mission. Gigi’s is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that rescues homeless dogs from rural communities with high poverty rates and brings them to their 6-acre campus, where they receive the care they need to become healthy and adoption-ready.

Our team rolled up our sleeves to help tidy up the grounds, weeding, mulching, and cleaning window screens. It was a meaningful way to give back and spend time with some of the dogs waiting for their forever homes.

What a week it's been on Capitol Hill! OIA's independent agents engaged in meaningful conversations around federal policy and strengthened relationships that matter for agents and the clients they serve across Ohio.

OIA’s independent agents had a productive and successful week in Washington, D.C., advocating on behalf of our members and the Ohioans they serve. Throughout the week, our delegation met with federal representatives to discuss key legislative issues impacting the independent agency system and our communities back home.

We sincerely thank Congressman Jim Jordan, Congressman Rep. Mike Carey, and Congressman Warren Davidson for taking the time to meet with our members and listen to their perspectives as constituents. We appreciate the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and advance important issues affecting our industry.

Last night, OIA hosted a group dinner for all our Big "I" Legislative attendees, and we had the pleasure of being joined by special guest Congressman Rep. Troy Balderson!

From formal meetings to conversations over dinner, the Legislative Conference provides a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships and discuss priorities that impact the independent agency system.
