⚠️ Road work is continuing, and chip-seal resurfacing is underway! ⚠️

Help reduce accidents and protect your vehicle by following these simple tips:

🚗 Slow down! Lower speeds help keep the loose gravel where it belongs and reduce the chance of rocks being thrown.

↔️ Avoid driving too close to the center line. Give oncoming traffic a little extra space to lessen the chance of flying gravel.

🚙 Leave extra following distance. Staying back gives loose gravel time to settle on the road instead of landing on your vehicle or windshield.

A little extra patience goes a long way in keeping everyone safe and preventing unnecessary vehicle damage.

Road Maintenance Notice – Chip Seal Work

The Allegan County Road Commission is performing chip seal maintenance on select roads in Saugatuck Township, including Lakeshore Drive, 130th from Lakeshore to Douglas City Limits, Riverside Road, 62 Street from 128th Avenue to Riverside, and Old Allegan Road.

No road closures are anticipated during this work. Motorists and cyclists should expect brief delays and use extra caution while traveling through active work zones.

Because chip seal operations are weather-dependent, the Road Commission typically finalizes its schedule only a day or two before work begins, making advance notice difficult. If your daily travel includes Lakeshore Drive, 130th from Lakeshore to Douglas City Limits, Riverside Road, 62 Street from 128th Avenue to Riverside, or Old Allegan Road, please anticipate periodic chip seal, sweeping, and pavement marking operations over the coming weeks.

Chip seal is a preventive maintenance treatment that helps preserve pavement and extend the life of the roadway. Immediately following application, a layer of loose stone will remain on the road surface until it is compacted by traffic. The Road Commission will return to sweep excess stone, apply a fog seal, and reinstall pavement markings as part of the project.
