It's tomato season in Slocomb! The tomato capital of the world, and the place where Friend Bank started over 100 years ago.

This month, we're celebrating our hometown and the tomato farmer. And we look forward to seeing you at the Slocomb Tomato Jamboree on Saturday, June 20th. It will be a weekend full of good music, good food, good friends, and of course, great tomatoes. Put it on your calendar!

Congratulations to the graduating seniors from Slocomb High School who were selected as recipients of the 2026 Lawrence Harris Endowed Scholarship:

Hannah Peters
Kayna Wilkins
Carly Laoye
Harry Ryan Purcell

In addition, several current students at The University of Alabama will have their scholarships renewed for the upcoming year.

Established in 1992, the Lawrence Harris Scholarship Fund was created to support Slocomb High School graduates pursuing their education at The University of Alabama. Since its founding, the fund has awarded 109 scholarships totaling more than $174,000.

Gracious God, on this Memorial Day weekend,
we remember and give thanks
for those who have given their lives
in the service of our country.
When the need was greatest,
they stepped forward and did their duty
to defend the freedoms that we enjoy,
and to win the same for others.
O God, you yourself have taught us
that no love is greater than that
which gives itself for another.
These honored dead gave the most precious gift they had,
life itself,
for loved ones and neighbors,

Today, we had the privilege of serving those who serve our community every day. In honor of National Hospital Week, a few of our team members grilled hamburgers and hotdogs for the staff at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva and delivered meals to several local doctors' offices as a small token of our gratitude.

We're thankful for the care, compassion, and dedication these healthcare professionals show to the Wiregrass each and every day. 💙
