Another way that the state of Illinois is putting its hands in your pockets

Illinois passed a new law (SB 2972), effective January 1, 2027, requiring boat owners to carry a minimum $100,000 UB (uninsured boater) limit on motorboats over 21 feet, motorboats over 50 horsepower, and all personal watercraft/jet skis.

I disagree with this. Why do people that do the right thing continually get penalized.

Be advised that insurers will probably be automatically increasing UB limits, so when your boat rates increase this is probably why.

Zero excuses: ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign underway for Memorial Day

Dixon, IL — The Dixon Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across Illinois for the 2026 “Click It or Ticket” campaign running May 15-26 during the Memorial Day travel period.

Officers will conduct high-visibility enforcement day and night, focusing on seat belt violations. Motorists who fail to buckle up can expect to be stopped and ticketed.

Illinois law requires all drivers and passengers to wear seat belts. While usage has increased to 93% in 2025, unrestrained fatalities remain a concern — especially at night.
