My Angus tour of the entire US continued in Big Fork, MT at Montana Ranch’s annual production sale. Cattle were great, weather was perfect, and the sale went amazing. Top seller was Montana Rita 3070 out of Square B Atlantis 8060. She brought $200,000 when the final gavel fell. All in 60 registered females averaged $27,483 to gross $1,649,000. Congrats to the Montana Ranch crew on a great event!

My countrywide Angus tour continued on from a busy 3 days in California, all the way to Big Sky country! Yesterday, buyers from across the country descended on Charlo, MT for the annual Coleman Angus female sale. This one was a bit different, as it was the first sale since the acquisition of the herd by Ingram Angus. Mr. Ingram vowed before the sale that the animals and the customer service would stay the same as it has for years. This set of females, from top to bottom, was as uniform and deep as any I’ve seen this fall. Deep bodied, moderate, easy doing and high $M females were easy to find in this offering. Top seller was Coleman Donna 439, a GDAR GAME DAY bred to Coleman Easy Decision. She fetched $140,000. Overall, 87 lots averaged $36,425 to gross a blistering $3,169,000! Congrats to Orrin, Larry And Dee Coleman, Jeremy Haag and the rest of the Coleman/Ingram crew on a great sale!

VINTAGE ANGUS RANCH is truly a destination sale if you’re in the Angus business. Being my first time to downtown Modesto, I didn’t realize what I was about to see. When I walked in the pens to look at the offering, I was taken aback by just how impressive the cattle were. From the top to bottom, it was one of the best offerings I’ve seen all fall. It started HOT and never backed up all day. The lot 3 heifer, VINTAGE QUEENIE 6117 is a Wilks Crick January heifer from a VAR Powerplay daughter, was considered by Doug Worthington to be the best he’s ever raised, and the market agreed. She sold for $625,000 to a trio of buyers. At the end of the day, 79 registered females grossed 3,775,000 to average $47,784. What an operation, and amazing testament to the legacy of Jim Coleman. Congrats to the Vintage crew on an amazing event!

A rainy Saturday brought the top angus programs across the country to Baxley, GA for the 2nd annual Circle F Farms production sale. The sale was topped by one of the top producing cows in the entire Angus breed, GAR Sunbeam 332. This is one of the best to cross the auction block all fall, and had multiple bidders wanting to purchase 1/2 interest in the female that produced the past two top sellers at the Gardiner bull sale. When the bidding was over, she sold for $650,000 for 1/2 interest, giving her an astonishing $1.3 million dollar valuation. All in all, 52 lots grossed $2,872,900 to average $55,248! What an afternoon at the Annual Prairie View Farm annual production sale, where an OUTSTANDING group of Angus show heifers were assembled for juniors across the country. The food was great, and the demand was extremely strong. When the gavel fell, lot 14 was the top seller. She’s amazingly complete, feminine but with power while still moving around like a cat. The BLC/MLA Omega daughter from the great PVF BLACKCAP 9114 cow brought $190,000. All in all, 52 live lots averaged $30,649 to gross $1,689,150. Congrats to the Millers and crew on an outstanding sale!

The third sale of the weekend was Saturday night, at Conley Cattle in Sulfur. Kyle Conley and crew put together an amazing group of Angus show heifer prospects, and bidding online was just as hot as bidding in the ring. Top seller was lot 14, a daughter of Conley Bristow and lot 9, a daughter of Conley A 1, both fetching an astounding $180,000 each! Overall, 60 registered females grossed $1,556,000 to average $25,933. Congrats to the Conley crew on a great sale!

The second of 4 sales on the Oklahoma Angus sale tour was a great one! Pollard Farms 29th annual sale was amazing. Cattle were some of the best I’ve seen all year, and the crowd and hospitality were second to none. Top seller was lot 25 a bred heifer out of FF Rito Ambitious, Pollard Henrietta Pride 5324. She’s headed north to Canada for $300,000. All in all, 98 lots grossed $3,406,500 to average a smoking hot $34,760!! Huge congrats to the Pollard family and crew on an amazing sale.

Kicked off a great weekend of traveling all around Oklahoma to Angus sales at Linz Heritage Angus yesterday! Great cattle, great food, amazing people. What more could you want?! A group of great females and bulls combined to gross $2,027,150! When the hammer fell, 44 breeding age bulls averaged $10,619, and 43 females averaged a smoking $32,918! Top seller was lot 1a, LINZ Erica of BBR 5311. An all around complete female that was a phenotypic powerhouse that carried a great numbers package as well. When the bidding was over, she brought $300,000. Congrats to Fred, Ben, and the rest of the Linz crew on a great sale!

To cap off a busy weekend, I attended the first annual Schaeffer Show Cattle first annual live female sale. This was one of the best events I’ve ever attended. Over 450 people were ringside to bid on some of the top show heifer prospects in the country from a myriad of breeds. When the final gavel fell, the sale set records and waves were felt throughout the show cattle industry. The sale was topped by a late April Mainetainer heifer sired by SLIK Me Too 5k fetching $300,000. Overall, the 51 lots grossed an astounding $3,311,500 to average $64,931… 🤯

A busy weekend continued in the Midwest, as Gutwein Angus held their annual production sale near Rensselaer, IN at an incredibly nice venue. The females the Gutwein crew assembled were in tip top shape, and their phenotypes matched their impressive numbers. Top seller was Lot 1, GA Susie 333-5621. The Linz Prohibition 2004 daughter brought an impressive $230,000. Overall, the sale was extremely strong from top to bottom grossing$1,798,750 to average $22,206! Congrats to Fred and the crew on an amazing day!
