It seems I am surrounded by “Mastermind” networking groups⁉️
Everywhere you look on SM these days, there are countless groups all seeking unknown people to join their “group”, by the hundreds or thousands with no qualifications required…⁉️
In my studies regarding mastermind principles I find too many
mis-interpretations of what was originally meant by its author:
“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” – Proverbs 15:22
In some circles a master mind is considered a sort of abstract idea that results whenever two or more people meet up and all individuals have a positive and harmonious attitude, as well as a shared, defined goal.
Simple enough, right?
The benefits of this master mind are plenty, though. To truly understand the Mastermind definition one must study Napoleon Hill’s writings in 1920’s & defined in “Think an Grow Rich” in 1933, although Mastermind groups have been around for centuries.
Take Benjamin Franklin’s Junto Club (“to join”), C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles Williams, Owen Barfield all had select groups of trusted like-minded individuals who came together to discuss literature, philosophy, culture and faith, as all members were Christians, the group discussed moral matters, politics and science.
I have learned how vital it is to surround myself with people with my same mind-set, same aspirations, similarities of purpose, goals and dreams.
Members challenge each other to set strong goals, and more importantly, to “accomplish” them.
It seems that joining groups of endless members of unseen, unknown strangers is not what was desired, but was seriously warned to be weary of... likewise Dr. Ivan Misner, founder of Business Network International (BNI) is cautions about it too, in his latest book titled “Who’s In Your Room?!” he explores this very issue.
I believe I will remain very cautious who I allow to be in my “Circle of Friends!”
