**UPDATE** Last night Eastpointe Officers teamed up with officers from the Michigan Department of Corrections for Operation Night Hawk. The team did compliance checks at the homes of those residents who are on probation. Two people were arrested and we seized illegal narcotics. We love working with our citizens to keep Eastpointe safe!!

An update to this on-going investigation.

The vehicle involved appears to be a black Buick Enclave with chrome trim and door handles. As before, it is expected to have heavy front end damage and damage to its hood. If you have any information about this vehicle please contact the Westland Police Department.

Westland MI – (August 14, 2018) Police attempt to identify a driver involved in a fatal hit and run collision.

The Westland Police Department is attempting to identify a subject responsible for striking a jogger with their vehicle and fleeing the scene. The collision occurred on Hines Drive between Inkster and Merriman Roads on Tuesday August 14th at approximately 10:30 a.m. The victim, an off duty Wayne County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant, passed away as a result of this collision.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a small black SUV with round headlights. It should have front end and hood damage that was sustained from this collision. It continued driving eastbound on Hines Drive after the collision occurred.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible. If you have information regarding the suspect vehicle or driver please contact either Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAKUP, or Detective Farrar at 734-467-7912.
