The American Equity Heritage Employee Resource Group, RISE, celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month at the Latino Heritage Festival downtown and in our Des Moines office.

Team members gathered for a Bachata dance class and a light lunch, provided by local Mexican restaurants. RISE ERG members also spent time at the Latino Heritage Festival making Papel Picado crafts and meeting with festival goers. It was a great time to celebrate Latino heritage, build meaningful connections, and strengthen the community!

We are proud to receive a 2026 Economic Impact Award from the Greater Des Moines Partnership.

The award recognized American Equity for relocating our headquarters and approximately 750 employees to downtown Des Moines. This recognition celebrates not only our investment in the community, but also the American Equity employees who are helping make Des Moines a vibrant place to live and work.

Our Veterans Employee Resource Group, Cubical 36B, was proud to volunteer at the Food Bank of Iowa to address food insecurity with local at-risk veterans.

The ERG members and American Equity employees stuffed bags with food items that will be given to veterans in Des Moines and Ottumwa. We are proud of the work Cubical 36B and our employees have done to support veterans in our communities.

As part of our sponsorship of the University of Iowa’s Hero of the Game, we are honored to recognize Chief Master Sergeant Peter Buzynski for more than 30 years of service to the United States Air Force.

During his distinguished career, Chief Buzynski served in weather operations around the world, providing leadership, expertise, and support for critical military missions. Among his many assignments, he served as Superintendent of the Joint Presidential Weather Unit at two U.S. government facilities, delivering specialized weather forecasting and flight briefings in support of presidential travel worldwide. He also deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.

Whether serving on American soil or overseas, Chief Buzynski exemplifies dedication to service, leadership, and his fellow Airmen.

This week we are proud to recognize retired U.S. Air Force Colonel David Gaskill as our Iowa State University Hero of the Game.

A graduate of ISU, Col. Gaskill served more than two decades in the Air Force, deploying seven times to the Middle East in support of operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. Throughout his career, he accumulated more than 3,500 flight hours and more than 500 combat support flight hours while serving in leadership roles around the world.

From supporting the nation’s defense at U.S. Strategic Command to commanding the 1st Airborne Command and Control Squadron, his commitment to service, leadership, and mission excellence left a lasting impact on those he served alongside.

Throughout the week, employees volunteered at Meals from the Heartland, assembled literacy kits, and created t-shirt bags. Each activity was an opportunity for our team to showcase the power of EPIC values in action.
