Five years ago mortgage rates were lower than they’ve been for the last few years (but thankfully not as high as they got). It makes sense why some buyers have hit pause. A lot feels uncertain right now, and waiting can feel like control. In terms of the housing market, some cities have cooled a bit, others are still increasing, but overall supply and demand are more balanced now - not crashing, just normalizing. Which means even if rates come down, prices will likely go up.
