**Check this out! This is great information from a fellow investor!**

If you lose when protesting your property taxes, after you lose, you can immediately request that you take your case to arbitration; this is allowed per Tax Code Chapter 41A.
Before you actually get to arbitration and/or have to pay an arbitrator...99.9% of the time the appraiser will call you and settle it at a much lower price.
I have heard the appraisers do this, because if they lose, they have to pay your attorney (if you had one), their attorney and the arbitrator; and it's not worth it for them.

The Texas Comptroller's office has resources on binding arbitration for property owners and arbitrators.
