Thanks to President Donald Trump - Deduction for Seniors:
Effective 2025 - 2028 individuals who are age 65 and older may claim an additional deduction of $6,000 ($12,000 married filing joint and both over 65) and is in addition to the current additional standard deduction for seniors under existing law.
The deduction phases out if gross income is over $75,000 ($150,000 married filing joint)
The deduction is available for both itemizing & non-itemizing taxpayer.
**This was a compromise because NOT ONE democrat would vote for "No Tax on Social Security"**
Keep that in mind when you vote next year.

Thanks to President Donald Trump - No Tax on Car Loan Interest:
Effective 2025 - 2028 individuals may deduct up to $10,000 of interest paid on a loan used to purchase a qualified vehicle. Lease payments do not qualify.
The deduction phases out if gross income is over $100,000 ($200,000 married filing joint)
Qualified vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 14,000 pounds and has undergone final assembly in the United States. The VIN decoder website for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) provides plant of manufacture information.
The deduction is for both itemizing and non-itemizing taxpayers.
You must include the vehicles VIN on your tax return.

Thanks to President Donald Trump - No Tax on Tips:
Effective for 2025 - 2028 the first $25,000 of qualified tips can be deducted from income. The deduction will phase out if gross income is over $150,000 ($300,00 married filing joint)
"Qualified tips" in occupations that are listed by the IRS as customarily & regularly receiving tips on or before 12/31/2024 and are voluntary cash or charged tips received from customers or through tip sharing.

IRS will issue a list of occupations that "customarily & regularly" received tips by 10/2/2025.

Your W-2 will have anew box to show the deductible tips.

Thanks to President Donald Trump - No Tax on Overtime:
Effective 2025 - 2028 the first $12,500 ($25,000 if married filing joint) of overtime, the half portion of the time and a half, can be deducted from income. The deduction will phase out if gross income is over $150,000 ($300,000 married filing joint)
**regular pay is $20 hour, overtime pay is $20 regular + $10 overtime =$30 hour. The extra $10 is the deductible overtime**

Your W-2 will have a new box to show the deductible overtime.

Just a head's up that after Tuesday April 15th the office hours will be cut back!! Saturday April 12th will be the last Saturday we will be open. So if you have finished returns you need to come pick them up before the 15th!!
And we will be closed Good Friday thru April 27th for much needed R&R. after that we will be open Monday - Thursday 10-4.
If you haven't dropped off yet call and get an extension filed!
