"Can I change my Medicare plan?" — Yes. But it's not as simple as just deciding you want to.

There are specific windows when you can make changes, and real consequences if you miss them or don't understand the rules.

Here's what you need to know:

📅 Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): Oct 15 – Dec 7 — the main window for most plan changes
📅 Open Enrollment Period (OEP): Jan 1 – Mar 31 — for switching out of Medicare Advantage
📅 Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs): Triggered by specific life events — moving, losing other coverage, and more

The good news? You almost always have more options than you think. If you're unhappy with your plan and feel stuck, please call me before you assume you have to wait until October.

I wish more people knew this BEFORE they got a Medicare bill they weren't expecting.

Original Medicare — Parts A and B — covers a lot. But it does NOT cover everything. And the gaps can be expensive if you're not prepared.

Here's what Medicare alone does NOT cover:
❌ Dental care
❌ Vision and eyeglasses
❌ Hearing aids
❌ Most prescription drugs (without Part D)
❌ Long-term care or custodial care
❌ And there's no out-of-pocket maximum — meaning costs can add up fast

The people who get hurt most are the ones who assumed Medicare would take care of everything and didn't find out otherwise until they were already sitting in a doctor's office.
