Among women in the United States, breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer. According to the newest American Cancer Society data, an estimated 321,910 women and 2,670 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year, making up nearly 1 in 3 of all new female cancer diagnoses.

While incidence rates continue to edge up slightly.....particularly among women under 50.....there remains great hope! Thanks to early detection and advanced treatment options, the death rate has dropped by more than 40% over the last few decades, and the overall 5-year survival rate stands at 92%.

When breast cancer is caught early in the localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate is over 99%! Knowing the facts, performing self-exams, and staying on top of scheduled screenings...truly saves lives.

🎗️ BREAST CANCER STATISTICS:
🩷NEW CASES-WOMEN: ~321,910 invasive and ~60,730 non-invasive (DCIS) cases.
🩷NEW CASES-MEN: ~2,670 cases, proving that breast cancer affects men too.
🩷LIFETIME RISK: 1 in 8 women (13%) will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.
🩷THE POWER OF EARLY DETECTION: 66% of cases are caught early, where survival is at its highest.
🩷GROWING COMMUNITY: There are now more than 4.2 million breast cancer survivors living in the U.S. today.

WHAT YOU CAN DO!
👩LEARN YOUR BODY: Check for unusual changes, lumps, or skin differences.
👩‍⚕️TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR: Discuss your family history to understand your personal risk.
📲SCHEDULE SCREENINGS: Annual or biennial mammograms are typically recommended starting between ages 40 and 45.
😃KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. Share this post to spread awareness, and remind someone you love to prioritize their health today.

One important fact I have learned this year....two fold: Cancer does not care about your age or health, and paying attention to your body 'NOW" is of the utmost importance. Please schedule your screenings as soon as you notice anything unusual.....your life depends on it!

I don't know about you, but there is nothing quite like tender, smoked pork.....no matter how you doctor it up to eat it!! From a delicious sandwich with vinegar slaw, to stuffing your baked potato and smothering it in cheddar cheese....yum!! (I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!)😋

Yeah, it's Friday!! This month brings an additional opportunity to have a little punny fun with Halloween themed humor! This weeks choice, from Vince The Sign Guy - Real.....well....it was a 'no-brainer' to me!

There are many 'catch-phrases' that literally.....catch on and continue well-past the intended life of the advertising campaign. So, it is with this one from .....do you remember the company?? Yes, you got it....Mazda! And it has been around for quite awhile!!

The original launch year was back in 2000....with an extended Global campaign starting in 2002. Their objective was to help you relive your childhood....you know, like spinning around in circles on the merry-go-round or riding your bike....they wanted you to remember that it's "fun-to-drive!"

And surely, you remember the young child whispering "Zoom-Zoom".....!! While we are certain that Mazda hasn't added "flying brooms"🧹 to their production line....we are certain they would do a great job!!😄

It may not seem like it, but winter is right around the corner. According to the Farmer's Alamanac, the first frost is predicted between October 28th and November 2nd. Giving us only 3 weeks to prepare. Don't worry, here are several ways to help with your winter heating bills and lower your costs!

GREAT WAYS TO LOWER YOUR WINTER HEATING COSTS:
STEP ONE: Smart Thermostat and Heating Adjustments:
❄️Reduce your setting: Lowering your thermostat to 68°F (20°C) when you are home, and lowering it a few degrees more at night or when you are away.
❄️Get a programmable/smart thermostat: A smart device, like those that have the Nest Thermostat or ones that connect to your smart phone....can automatically adjust heating schedules to save you money.
❄️Reverse your ceiling fans: Changing your ceiling fans to run 'clockwise' will gently push warm air down into your living space.
❄️Clean your vents: Double check to ensure furniture, rugs, or drapes are not blocking your heating registers or baseboard heaters.

STEP TWO: Sealing and Insulating
🌬️Check your weatherstripping: Depending on what type of weatherstripping was used, it may only last 1-5 years. Double check your windows and doors and replace old caulk or other stripping to ensure there are no cold drafts.
🌬️Consider window film: Window film will add an extra layer of insulation to help hold in your heat.
🌬️Close fireplace dampers: Unless you are actively using your fireplace, keep the fireplace flue tightly closed to prevent warm air from escaping up the chimney.
🌬️Add layers: Add heavy floor rugs over bare hardwood or tile floors and use insulated thermal curtains to help trap heat inside.

STEP THREE: Maintenance and Appliances
⚡Change your filters: Replace or clean your furnace filters monthly or quarterly to ensure maximum airflow and system efficiency.
⚡Lower water heater temperature: Adjust your water heater down to 120°F (49°C) to reduce standby heating energy.
⚡Unplug energy zappers: Using smart power strips to completely cut power to idle electronics and chargers that draw "phantom" energy when they aren't in use.

Reducing your winter energy bills by optimizing your thermostat settings, sealing household drafts, and maintaining your heating system is not only a smart idea, but it might also have diviends.
