One of the most common questions I get here in Michigan is:

“Why should I pay for PIP coverage when I already have health insurance?”

The simple answer is that health insurance and PIP do not cover the same things.

While your health insurance may help cover injuries after an auto accident, PIP (Personal Injury Protection) can also help with expenses that many health plans either limit or do not cover at all.

PIP can help cover:
• Lost wages
• Essential or replacement services like childcare and house cleaning
• Funeral and burial expenses
• Deductibles and co-pays
• Medical expenses related to an auto accident

Without PIP, many of these costs could become out-of-pocket expenses, even if you have good health insurance.

At the end of the day, whether or not to carry PIP is a personal decision. My job as an Insurance Agent is to explain the coverage, present the facts, and help people make an informed choice that fits their situation.

For me personally, while PIP may cost more upfront, the peace of mind it provides is worth it. Knowing that both myself and the people in my vehicle would be taken care of after an accident makes a big difference.

Just helped one of my clients save $3,700 a year by reviewing and quoting his home and auto insurance.

I can’t promise that level of savings for everyone, but it’s a great example of what a quick policy review can uncover.

If you haven’t reviewed your insurance in a while, it might be worth a look. A simple quote could show you where you stand and possibly save you some money.

Message me if you want me to take a look.

Hello Friends,

As always during this time of year, Michigan weather does not know what to do. Are we in winter, spring, or are we caught in some strange weather limbo that we may never escape from? I am joking, of course… but only a little.

With most of the harsh weather behind us, now is a great time to take a look around your home and check for any weather-related damage. Inspect your roof safely, along with your sidewalks, siding, and do not forget the basement. If you have a sump pump, make sure it is up and running properly. A quick check now can help prevent a much bigger issue later.

February was a whirlwind for me. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful birthday trip to Charlevoix, and I also had the opportunity to learn new ways to better assist our Veterans and our communities.

On that note, if you know any young men or women who may be interested in a career in law enforcement, we sponsor 10th, 11th, and 12th graders to attend the Student Trooper program with the Michigan State Police from July 19 through July 24. The application deadline is May 1. I also have multiple scholarships available. If you are interested and would like more information, please email me at [email protected].

As we look ahead to March, I am ready to welcome longer days and springing forward an hour. The older I get, the more I appreciate the extra daylight. There is something uplifting about not heading to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. I am also looking forward to St. Patrick’s Day. I will be helping out at the Legion, serving corned beef meals and perhaps enjoying a Guinness or two.

While my Patriots did not win the Super Bowl, much to my disappointment, they exceeded my expectations this season. I am just happy to see them back in the playoffs and competing again.

I received so many laughs and great conversations from last month’s Valentine’s Day photo that I think it may need to become a monthly tradition. I truly appreciate your trust and loyalty. As always, referrals are the highest compliment you can give.

Remember, you do not need to find a pot of gold to put more money in your pocket. Let me review your policies and work a little magic for you.

Have a happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day!

Greetings,

Now that the holiday season has come and gone and we have settled into the cold grip of a true Michigan winter, I wanted to warm your hearts with a quick note from me, your beloved insurance agent and professional matchmaker of policies and people.

As temperatures continue to drop, please be mindful of snow and ice buildup on your roofs, gutters, and sidewalks. I recently saw a news segment highlighting the dangers of ice dams, which can form when your attic warms faster than the eaves of your home. When that happens, melting snow refreezes at the roofline, creating a barrier that can force water back under shingles and lead to leaks, water damage, and costly repairs.

If you notice an ice dam forming, here are three proactive steps that can help prevent further issues:

1. Seal any air leaks between your living space and attic.

2. Add additional insulation in your attic to maintain consistent temperatures.

3. Ensure your attic is properly ventilated to reduce uneven warming.

Most importantly, safety comes first. Please do not climb onto your roof to remove ice dams, and never stand directly underneath while attempting to chip away ice. The risk of injury is simply not worth it.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns about protecting your home during these frigid months, I am just a phone call away. Stay warm, stay safe, and let’s keep your winter worry free.

Let’s Make Sure You’re Getting the Best Value on Your Insurance

Insurance can be confusing, and costly if you’re not careful. That’s why I offer a free, no-obligation review of your current policy. Simply send me your declarations page, and I will:

1. Identify coverage gaps that could leave you vulnerable
2. Check for unnecessary extras that may be costing you more
3. Find opportunities to save money without reducing protection

My goal is simple, give you confidence in your coverage while helping you save. If I can improve your policy and lower your cost, fantastic! If everything looks great, you’ll have peace of mind knowing you’re properly protected.

Email me your declarations page today, your wallet (and your peace of mind) will thank you!
