Not all Medicare Advantage plans are built the same, and the differences are bigger than most people realize.

HMO (Health Maintenance Organization): Generally requires you to use a network of providers and get referrals to see specialists.

PPO (Preferred Provider Organization): Offers more flexibility to see providers outside the network, usually at a higher cost.

PFFS (Private Fee-for-Service): Allows you to see any Medicare-approved provider who agrees to the plan's payment terms.

PDP (Prescription Drug Plan): Standalone drug coverage that works alongside Original Medicare.
